IDAT104 is basically the cultural and social side to the course which explains how different media has different impacts on the world, how technology influences aspects of other issues etc. It goes into some detail about the history and development of new media and also looks upon ’space art’ which hopefully is good as it sounds.

This module is about the forms of digital media - print, motion, photography, video, tv etc. and the ideas of ‘new media’. Seems like a really interesting and aesthetically pleasing module. The first part is about Photoshop which I already know so don’t need to go to the basic practicals. Looking forward to doing sound production though as I haven’t done that much of it already.

This was our first assignment for the course to get to know each other in the group. It was fun until people outside the civic centre started to come out for their fag break and stare at us. Good times.

We made another basic HTML web page, but I knew what to do already so I started to look at some .ASP which we will be learning in the near future. Seems pretty simple as I have used PHP before and they both follow a similar structure, just have a different language. At least we won’t have to touch (near redundant) HTML again, CSS <3

This module seems to be the ‘real life working model’ of IDAT which involves a lot of practical work. We were given an assignment to work in groups to make a ‘narrative map’. By ‘narrative map’ we have to somehow (we can do this any way we want as long as it’s not boring) record something from one distance to another. Our group has no idea at the moment but I’m gonna try and involve my D70, didn’t buy it for nothing

I think this is gonna be the format of the overall site, but with some more modding, features and other stuff. Need to create some sort of gallery soon for my photos, but I’ll save that to when I’m not lazy.

Uni life is good, but starting to need to go out less and work more Met quite a few decent people and my flat mates are awesome, this year is gonna be good. Anyway I’ll write in this blog/news section of the site when I have something else to write about.

SOFT131 is one of the coding modules of the course. I haven’t done much programming at all so a lot of it will be relatively new to me and hopefully interesting in some way.

Seemed to me one of the least interesting modules of the course but unfortunatly one of the most important too. This module is basically Computer Science and lots of it

I found this to be easy stuff as although I use a lot of CSS, I also know HTML. We went over some basic HTML and tags and made a basic page.
Funny that most HTML will probably be out written by the end of the course but oh well.

Starting up a blog to check my progress throughout the course and here it is. Still need to mod the theme a bit more but the content will be here as I update it.
