The second year’s just started, time to actually do work again! This year seems a lot better as the first year was just bringing everyone up to the same level, whereas this year is more about developing yourself and working on interesting projects.

I’ve always thought I would want to go into the web design field at the end of the course but now my mind is changing. After doing a large amount of client work over the summer it feels the whole thing is just too samey, there’s nothing ever different in web design. I know there is always going to be money in it and it would be a good thing to fall back on but I would much rather work on projects that aren’t going to be ‘build a web 2.0 looking website’ every time.

The good thing about the course is that it leaves you with many options on where to go, whether it be web design, animation, coding, motion, graphic design or whatever so hopefully around placement time I’ll have a good idea of where to go in life and have something behind it to show my skills.

Recently I’ve been doing a fair amount of After Effects work with video to try and create a distinguished and attractive style of editing. I know we have a project based on motion graphics soon so that will be an interesting one to do and I’ll post some of the recent video work soon.
